Take A Break - You Deserve It!
Here are our 5 workplace wellness tips for taking a break from work. EVERYONE deserves a break.
(1) Take the first step - Book Time Off.
Take a moment to review your current vacation policy and vacation allowance.
Book the time off that works with your manager and team.
Not sure what will work best - ask!
Think of a time that will be the least stressful to take a break.
(2) Teamwork makes the dream work.
Delegate in advance.
Keep your colleagues informed of your plans.
Set boundaries for new workload requests, communicate the person or department that will take care of business - "TCOB" in your absence.
(3) Set a budget.
Decide what you are willing to spend and put in your budget planning.
For those fortunate enough to get a hotel break, "on island" staycations are a wonderful way to rest, unwind, and support local business.
For those short on time or money, you can still take a break within your means. Get inspired by local tourism and stay on the lookout for local deals. For example, Cayman has a directory of summer activity deals here: https://www.explorecayman.com/deals
(4) Start planning.
Start by creating your summer to-do list.
Write down short activities you would like to do, such as exploring your favorite beaches, snorkeling, fishing, take a stroll at a farmers market, and enjoy a relaxed cookout with fresh local produce.
Does your friend have a pool you can enjoy? Ask them if you can use it.
Plan how you will set boundaries with work for switching off. Consider setting your phone to "airplane mode."
Be flexible with your plans to ensure you comply with your local government's latest safety guidance.
