Atlantic Medical Made a Date with Their Feet!

Atlantic Medical Made a Date with Their Feet!

On Saturday, April 18th, 2015 the bell rang off at 6:30 am as the official start of the 17th Annual Atlantic Medical Fun Walk and Run in Nassau and Freeport, Bahamas. Participants of all ages came out in support of this event where all proceeds raised are donated to the Cancer Society of The Bahamas and The Diabetic Association.

Over 1,500 people took to the streets in earnest as they travelled two routes. The competitive walkers and runners went over the Paradise Island bridges as the others did a shorter route with many families enjoying a good healthy start to the day. Last year, Atlantic Medical raised over $43,000 which was shared between the two charities. The funds are used to educate and help with programs that the charities embark on.

Members of the Fun Walk committee made several courtesy calls prior to the walk, including one to the Governor General of The Bahamas, along with several other government ministers, including the Ministers of Health, Youth & Sports & the Minister of State of Finance. They all support the work of Atlantic Medical as a corporate citizen.

One of the highlights of the walk this year was the over 65 “priority club” where the over 65 year old participants were treated to a special area to chill and chat after the walk. It was impressive to have so many of them walk with us and celebrate this event. One participant, Mr. Nello Coerbelle, who is 83 years old, was also given a special gift basket for his participation. Dr. Ageeb ran the race in the competition at the age of 73, still strong and in great shape. These are true inspirations in living healthy, active lifestyles .

Atlantic Medical appreciates the dedication and support of our clients and the general public who wake up early to share the morning with us bringing the community together to raise the much needed funds for both charities.

The Atlantic Medical Fun Walk/Run is the premier health walk in The Bahamas and we are committed to encouraging healthy lifestyles.
