Company Spotlight: EY

Company Spotlight: EY

Over the past few months, CGI has been partnering with EY in Bermuda, Bahamas, Cayman Islands and BVI to develop a cohesive Wellness Program that applies to employees at all of the company’s locations. Dawn McLean-Sawney,, Lead HR Representative, shared the vision EY has for their program going forward.

Q: What was your strategy for launching Colonial Wellness in all of your jurisdictions?

EY leadership wanted employees to live a healthier life, the value lies in taking action. We joined the Virgin Pulse program to keep the region’s workforce in good health and achieve health care savings for the firm and individuals. EY is excited about this initiative in the workplace. We’ll regularly add information and activities about what staff should be doing to get employees actively engaged in a healthier workforce commencing in 2015. But like all health initiatives, staff won’t reach their goals overnight. Creating this awareness and then developing the firm’s wellness program inclusive of Virgin Pulse will take some time. Remembering that everything starts at the top.The enthusiasm and dedication that leadership is showing to the healthier workforce
initiative will filter down to all employees to create a sustainable shift in lifestyle habits The health culture is a powerful influence on individual habits, so it’s important to understand that culture and its continuity.

Q: How did you select your champions?

We selected individuals who were known to be active physically and who also are active in the office (socially and professionally) to drive this initiative.

Q: How has the EY culture changed since implementing the program?

Morale always increases with any positive change in the office but this initiative also gets people moving and focused on their health and wellbeing – our employees are our priority so this initiative for them is a clear indication of that.

Q: Have you introduced any other wellness initiatives in your offices?

We do have our wellness program we roll out over our busy season which involves healthy lunches, massages, and lunch and learns.

EY would like to thank the Talent Team members who assisted to make this launch possible: Nancy Simpson and Erin Smith from Bermuda; Alex Wemyss from Bahamas, Jan Connolly and Yoli McCoy from Cayman; Maria Hopkins from BVI, and Janet Mackey, the overall Lead People Consultant for approval and support of our efforts.
