Company Spotlight: Argo

Company Spotlight: Argo

This January, Argo in Bermuda re-launched their wellness initiative with Colonial Wellness. We spoke with their new wellness committee to learn the inspiration for a re-boot and how the company plans to integrate well-being into the office culture.

Q: Since re-launching Colonial Wellness in January what do you find most motivating as a company?

A: This January, we re-launched the Colonial Wellness program alongside our first Wellness Committee to spark a renewed interest in health and wellness at Argo. We created a program centered on the following motivators:
• Team support/Participation
• Health and Wellness Education
• Incentives and Recognition
We have found these three pillars to be strong motivators for our small team. We crafted the program after conducting a survey of employee needs and interests to determine which activities would appeal to the widest group of employees. We launched a quarterly lunch and learn program that focuses on personal and at-work health. We also started an internal wellness newsletter and focused on group activities like the Argo
Bermuda Walking Club (meets once per week). Finally, we developed an incentives program to reward employees for their achievements through Colonial Wellness program. This has resulted in an over 500% YOY increase in participation.

Q: How does Argo utilize Colonial Wellness in the office and outside the office?

A: Inside the office, we have used Colonial’s network to host quarterly lunch and learns on nutrition and heart health. We have also discussed best practices at other companies and utilize information sent through the regular Virgin Pulse and Colonial newsletters.
60% of Argo employees are members of Colonial Wellness and most are using activity trackers to participate in the office both in and outside of the office.

Q: What fun wellness activities does Argo plan for employees?

A: So far, we have organized group exercise classes, local charity event participation, and surprise healthy treat days for all employees. In addition to more of those activities, we have wellness seminars, and a healthy lunch potluck planned for later this year.

Q: What changes have you made to the program since re-launching?

A: There are three main changes that have contributed to the current success of the program since re-launching: The development of the Wellness Committee, Regular Wellness-centered programming, and an Incentives and Recognition program.

Q: How do you plan on maintaining your level of member engagement?

A: Continuing to plan and support interactive/team-building events, Utilize the wellness committee to lead and encourage participation, Continue to provide quality wellness education
