Do You Have What it Takes to be a Champion?
KATHY PERRY, COLONIAL GROUP INTERNATIONAL
Within each company signed up to the Virgin Pulse Program, there is a small group of Champions who meet regularly to discuss ways of encouraging colleagues to feel as excited about participating in the program as we are.
But that’s not all we do...So that you understand the purpose of this group, we need to be clear on the definition of ‘Champion’. While this is certainly bound to be a great group of people, it is not necessarily made up of people who have “surpassed all rivals in a sporting contest or other competition”. Instead, this is a group of individuals “who vigorously supports or defends a person or cause”. We’re Champions of the Virgin Pulse Program, meeting regularly to ensure that our Wellness Program is what it should be, what you want it to be and what it needs to be so that we can all benefit from it. That’s our cause. And we’ve made a commitment to defend it.
So we do all we can to ensure that as many people as possible can, and do, participate in our Wellness Program – because the challenges are fun, the information is relevant, the rewards are worthwhile, and because we truly believe this will benefit the health and well-being of each and every participant. But we, as Champions, can only do so much.
You, the members of the Program, need to do your part. Employees who are reaching Level 4 or 5 every quarter are not necessarily the fittest or the most physically active. But they are: wearing a tracking device and uploading their steps; logging their daily activities; participating in challenges; logging onto the website on a regular basis and using the tools provided to become healthier overall. Are you doing your part? If you have any questions on how to get more involved in your Wellness Program, or ideas on improvements you’d like to see, seek out a Champion.
We’d love to hear from you!
