Champions Corner: Atlantic Medical Insurance
As the local Wellness Coordinator for The Bahamas, it is my responsibility to assist with the implementation and overall success of each company involved in our Corporate Wellness Program. However, the most successful companies are those who encourage wellness from within with a Wellness Committee made up of individuals who work to maintain and increase the engagement of the company’s Wellness Program. These individuals are self-motivated and motivational to all they interact with.
At Atlantic Medical, like all companies with a Corporate Wellness Program, we have established a team which meets on a monthly basis to discuss, strategize, and improve upon our Wellness Program. Our wellness committee is made up of representatives from all departments of the office to ensure that every section of the company gets involved. We believe in leading by example, to show our colleagues that health and wellness can be enjoyable, especially when approached with a team mindset.
Members of our committee include: Cyril, Holly and Cruz, who are all sports and fitness enthusiasts; Perlean, Taz and Desiree, who all take their health very seriously; Juanita, a nurse who knows the importance of Wellness and the commitment to personal well-being; Annastasia, Ursula and Lisa, who are dedicated to spreading a culture of wellness throughout the company; and myself, Donovan, a nutritionist.
Our team has effectively worked to improve upon our Wellness Program month by month. Since our launch, we have had onsite cooking demonstrations, fitness classes, and recipe challenges. This quarter, we are implementing after work walking groups and will be hosting a secret basket cooking challenge. We believe that the stronger our Wellness Committee, the stronger the success of the groups we insure! We stand by our Corporate Wellness motto: “All together better!”
