Does Your Community Have Healthy Habits?
One by one a ripple effect of your good deeds can occur. We can refer to these good deeds as healthy habits in our community. Could individual healthy habits in our community cumulate into a community as a whole having healthy habits, as healthy habits could be seen, heard, and felt? We, at CG Zest Wellness, think so! Every small action makes a difference in your community.
For members eligible for the CG Zest Wellness platform powered by Virgin Pulse, there are community healthy habits available for tracking. Introducing the Drive focus area and the “Contributing to my Community” and “Acting Sustainably” healthy habits.
The Drive focus area feeds your emotional drive by connecting with others, contributing to your community, and building financial security.
Further, the healthy habit of Contributing to my Community is about giving back, helping out, and keeping the environment clean. Some examples of the specific Contributing to my Community healthy habits are kind comments, sharing a smile, holding the door, driving courteously, and mentoring others.
In addition, the Acting Sustainably healthy habit is about being a responsible citizen to help everyone enjoy a better workplace and community, and a more sustainable world. A selection of specific examples of the Acting Sustainably healthy habits are using active transportation, turning lights off, and reduce-reuse-recycle (reducing your carbon footprint, skipping plastic, as well as not littering).
The importance of this article is amplified when employees grow their individual healthy habits in their community to spark company-wide efforts or initiatives to perform healthy habits for society. Healthy habits in our community at the company level can have a connection to what is referred to as ESG (environmental, social, and governance) reporting. This is in alignment with socially responsible company actions, such as conservation of the natural world, consideration of people and relationships, and standards for running a company. (1) Being socially conscious can matter for how a company operates and manages relationships with a number of stakeholders including employees, suppliers, customers, and the communities where it operates. (2) It may be that investors consider ESG criteria when evaluating companies.
You may speak to your CG Zest Wellness Coordinator to create your own healthy habit challenges!
